Salam
Hello-Hello.
for this first entry of my Chilling and Fraser Hill trip, I'll start with Water Supply Dam under SPLASH at Kuala Kubu Baru, Selangor. You will see a large or dam just at the left side of road when you plan to go to Fraser Hill.
This is the water supply dam for several area at Selangor especially Shah Alam. It is so damn huge.
This area is awesome with nice environment and scenery. I recommend you to stop by and feel the breeze and gain knowledge from their customer counter. Because they actually has some sort of little museum to show public what they gone through to make the dam happen.
I believe this is something that you should share with public and exposed with their technology.
Below is the map where on Malaysia that we have water supply dam.
Water supply dam and hydro electric dam is different. Water supply dam like this will not allow you guys to have any water activity such as fishing, picnic, and any others as they need to protect the area. It is for human as it will be our water supply.
However, hydro electric dam will allow such activities just like at Lake Kenyir.
Actually we stop by this dam on our way back to Shah Alam. Its windy and cloudy at that time.
Pictures below are the scenery around the dam's office.
The building has two level and at the second level is where people can see how huge the dam covered. Even though it is huge, its actually not fully full. You know how deep the lake is?
As you can see from the picture below, there is a bridge to the lake. The height of the building you see from the picture is as height as 31 level of a building from the ground.
All this water comes from different river. and the main river is from Chilling river. It takes a year to make this dam full with water at the beginning.
It take two orang asli village area. So, the village moved to Kg Pertak and another Kg (I forgot the name) complete with houses, community centre and water and electric supply.
This picture is taken from bridge that facing the dam. It just before Kg Pertak. This road actually being reconstruct again to give way to the dam early the dam construction.
It was a nice journey with friends. And end up with quite knowledgeable visit. I'm now know what is water supply dam and where water from my tap came from.
Not what we do will make people agree with us, but we need to proof to them that what we did is actually benefit others. Then, they will realize and accept the truth. Just be patient and endure the hardness. Some day, the light will coming to us.
XOXO,
Kazu.
